Quaid - One Small Step

This Term we have the Term 4 Independent Challenge. We get set a group of tasks and a set number has to be completed by the end of the week. This is my Create 1 Activity. In this activity we had to create a Informal Poster using Google Draw or Comic Life. Because of this terms topic which is space, I read a book called , One Small Step.

This is my Xtramath result for today. I scored at about 98%

Quaid - My worst mistake

My worst mistake ...

One day, when I was at the pools, I went on the hydroslide. I was following all the rules but one. The rule that I broke was that ‘You aren’t aloud to go down in pairs’. My Friends and I went down in massive chains and the Lifeguard told us off every single time. I did this about 5 times before I wasn’t aloud on the waterslide.

I still make the same mistake nearly every time I go, But its more fun this way. Why can’t I stop this you may ask? Well, If you just wanted a fun time wouldn’t you want to spend it with your friend. I would.

I also made another mistake at the pools. This one is a classic. Have you ever ‘accidentally’ fallen into the pool. I have. Its the best way of jumping into the pool with the Lifeguard not knowing. I always get Kyra to push me in because she makes it look realistic. The Lifeguard falls for it every time.

There is no real punishment for this except for sitting out of the pool for a couple minute. But , by the time I have a snack and something to drink, the ten minutes would be over. Genius plan .

My conclusion is , would you rather go down the slide by yourself, be bored the whole way down and have to walk all the way up by yourself. I wouldn’t. I would rather Go down the slide with friends, Get in trouble by the Lifeguard, giggle as soon as the lifeguards not looking and repeat it again!

Holiday Reading - Character Potrait.

Diary of wimpy kid
Jeff Kinney

I drew a photo of Gregg Hefley.
He is the main character in every series of the book I have chosen.
I hope you like this book.

Holiday Reading - Soundtrack

Titanic - Gordan Korman

My Heart will go on - Celine Dion

I have chosen this soundtrack because it is the theme song of Titanic. It suits because it is a very emotional story. If you have read this series , please leave a comment to say if you agree / disagree.

Holiday Reading - Get Active

Wellington Cable Cart

Wellington Botanic Gardens

These photos are just some of the many things we did on Wednesday with my Grandparents. Unfortunately the camera stopped working when we were going to take a selfie outside the window.
The book I read for this one was ...
The Last Thirteen by James Phelan

Holiday Reading - Food Glorious Food

I read this book called Diary of a wimpy kid - Dog Days by Jeff Kinney.
In this book they mentioned at the school cafeteria in the morning, All the leaders get hot chocolate.
So here is a beautiful Hot Chocolate.*

MILO
Hot water
 MILK bluetop
**Chocolate drops
**Whipped Cream

Pour 3 level tbs of MILO into the cup.
Pour the hot water into the up to about 3/4 of the way.
You pour the water in first because the milk doesn't melt the MILO.
Pour the milk into the cup to the top.

**If desired you could and some whipped cream and chocolate drops

*Idea taken from STARBUCKS

Holiday Reading - Make a Recommendation

I have read this book over the Holiday Break. It is a book about Nelson Mandela pointing out all the good and bad things he had to go through. I like the part where they talked about when he had to go to Robben Island.

I would recommend this to my dad because he also really likes bio-graphys.

This is our Rich Task for WK10 . It is called 'Place of Origin'

Quaid - Food

Cultural Celebration

When funerals occur, my family and I always show up at the marae. Although this is a very sad occasion, we need to celebrate the life of whoever passed away. We can celebrate this through food.

We have lots of food at funerals because it’s a good way to honour someones life. We have hangi, which usually has kumara, wild pig and sometimes ham in it. Before we eat, we say grace.  We also have our food in any order (not a sequence).

I always start with the peaches. They are a nice appetizer for me. Then I move onto the chicken and potatoes. Finally, I have the salad that my Aunty George has prepared earlier. There are two rules while eating. Make sure you have enough and to not have fizzy drinks until after you’ve eaten.

With over 60 people attending these services, someone always has to do the dishes. Being the youngest in the family, I always have to wash and dry the dishes. I don’t think that they fully understand the meaning and purpose of the dishwasher!

When someone passes away in our family, we are always willing to help. Whether it’s by doing the dishes, sweeping, making beds, or just comforting the family, it all is a big help to them.
Although this is a very sad and emotional time for the family, food is a great way to honour a life.

Quaid - Favourite Movie

Favourite Movie

What is your all-time favorite movie and why? Write 3-4 paragraphs persuading readers to watch this film.

Titanic

Do you like emotional, sophisticated and adventure movies. If you do , I know you will like this movie. It is a horrific perspective of what it would’ve been like on the tragic day. Using real footage and imagination to create a wonderful movie.

Many people like to create movies, stories and video’s about their opinions , but I think the book that best sells the reader is the Gordan Korman series. There are 3 books and each one takes you on an adventure. It specifically describes the values and emotions of every person aboard.

My favourite part is the bit when it sinks. I know that sounds a bit rude, but that is the part when all emotions are on play. Also, when the RMS Titanic sunk, it shows how real it is and that this is the reality of many peoples lives.

Many people died on this day and it is celebrated through the Great RMS Titanic Aniversary. If you do enjoy this movie, then you should try the 9/11 by Gordan Korman. I give this book/movie a 10/10 for its interesting features.

Quaid - The Gift

The gift...
Its been 2 hours. Have they forgotten? Its my birthday for crying out loud! I began to think they haven’t remembered until...
“Happy Birthday Quaid” sings everybody in a harmonic voice. “This is for, uh, you” screeches Kyra.
“Thank you!” I pronounce in a happy tone.

Could it be? Is it really...! The best present ever! A limited edition toy robot that can adjust any body part in a slow motion. This is what I need to complete the series.

Quaid and Tyler - Cyprus' OE

Cyprus’ O.E.

L.I. Add distances in km
Work out the distance travelled
Plan a trip and calculate the distance travelled

Cyprus is planning his O.E. He has arranged a job in London and he needs to travel from Auckland to there.

He can travel either via America or Asia.
He needs to fly Air New Zealand to use his airpoints for at least one travel distance , eg: Auckland - San Franfrisco

Use this link to find out the distances between destinations.
Plan two flights for Cyprus, one going to America and then London and one going to Asia and then London.

Image result for vancouver
AMERICA
Auckland - Vancouver = 11, 372 Vancouver - London = 7, 606
7, 606 + 11, 372 = 18, 978

ASIA
Auckland - Hong Kong = 9, 181 Hong Kong - London = 9, 646
9, 646 + 9, 181 = 18, 827

Work out which is the shortest distance travelled, America or Asia?

The shortest flight is the Asia flight.
The distance between the two flights is 149 km.
The longest flight is the American flight.

How much would each trip cost if he was charged $2.50 per km.

AMERICA
The cost for the American Trip is $47,445.00
ASIA
The cost for the Asian Trip is $47,067.50
